The emergence of this great Mediterranean reference race, crowned by an absolute success in 2007 and hailed by participants, their partners and the press alike was placed in the official calendar of the Class Figaro Bénéteau, the compusoty stage in the career of any high-level sailor till 2012.
Each year, the goals of The Cap Istanbul are to develop this event in the long run and to have the skippers abdt through them the public to discover Turkey and the other wonders of the Mediterranean sea by interweaving dream ports of call and phsically challenging and unexpected routes.
Thus, Cap Istanbul promotes and encourages through a sailing competition- the economic and cultural bonds between the two countries.
Throughout these 1670 nautical miles, Cap Istanbul offers the competitors the possibility to live a great maritime adventure on identical boats. Through many tactical and strategic choices, the figarists will have to make the most of their abilities, dynamism and tenacity.
The educational project of the Cap Istanbul has been in existence for two years and this year, in its third edition, the project takes on a new dimension. Cap Istanbul, one of the major sailing races in the Mediterranean, is a medium for communication valuing environmental protection. The media coverage of this event will help raise awareness among young people and the general public on the environmental situation of the Mediterranean.
With prestigious media partners, the CAP ISTANBUL offers an optimal visibility in France, in Turkey, and in the rest of Europe with a follow-up on the Internet and a real-time cartographical feed, that makes the tracking of the race possible.
This event, animated by passion, courage and dynamism, in the largest respect for "MOTHER NATURE" and " SEA", has and will continue to charm the crowd. This long coastal course offers a beautiful adventure that is challenging, human, cultural and respectful of the environment.
«We lived unforgettable moments of sea and I am sure that we will still be talking about it in ten years...»
Nicolas Bérenger :
«"It is probably the most beautiful course that has been proposed to us: a variation of extraordinary landscapes. Beyond the aspect of discovery, the challenge of the program gives to this race a larger dimension.»
Eric Drouglazet :
«My greatest memory of this edition : the landscape. We sailed in places mostly unknown to us before. The Greek islands, Dardanelles, this race is really splendid. In addition to the competitive side there is the adventure....I really hope to return next year. In any event, we will certainly talk about it to our classmates... »
Kito de Pavant :
He calls him «Merlin the enchanter » - when he speaks about Cumali Varer - and warmly thanks him for having initiated and organized this race. « One of the most beautiful events that I have participated ever », says this great name of the circuit Figaro Bénéteau who is about to sail on other waters, in 60 feet Open on board of Groupe Bel.
Yannick Bestaven :
«The event was very challenging. Everyone sails very well, therefore all was resolved on small details as the level was homogeneous. In any case, we do not regret our 7th place in the General standing. The ports of call were splendid. The greting of the local populations extraordinary, particularly in Foça and Bozcaada. It inevitably leaves everlasting memories !»
Murat Yalçıntaş / President of Chamber of Commerce of Istanbul :
«Cap Istanbul is an organization, which makes it possible to the people to discover their adventurous side while reinforcing the friendship between the countries. The skippers sail from Marseilles to Istanbul thereby reinforcing the relations between their countries. Passionately in love with the sea, I was thrilled watching the race and I really appreciated it. Furthermore, I am proud to support such an organization.»
Groupe Céléos :
«Sailing, perceived like a privileged vector of communication, requires human excellence, going beyond oneself, solidarity and the technique to evolve with the elements of nature: to innovate and anticipate.»
TEB :
«The field of banking and sailing resemble each other in the importance of strategic and tactical decisions imperative for success. We are proud of the success of our team.»
