The success of the previous four editions has made the Izmir Cup (ex Cap Istanbul) one of the top sailing solo adventures. The race, which has long since become one of the reference races on the top professional sailors' itineraries, will one more time be the Final race of the French Championship of Solo Offshore Racing.
With five stopovers in four different countries (France, Italy, Greece and Turkey), the Izmir Cup is considered the biggest offshore race in Mediterranean by the skippers, their sponsoring partners, and the press on an international level.
For this fifth edition between 25 and 30 skippers, including top names like François Gabart, Fabien Delahaye, Gildas Morvan, Nicolas Berenger, Erwan Tabarly and Nicolas Lunven, will compete again with the challenge of racing solo across the unpredictable Mediterranean Sea.
The tests: Risk-taking, strategy, relentlessness, courage and team spirit all are required assets in the armoury be succeed in the fifth edition, the Izmir Cup!

The final leg of WOW Cap Istanbul turned the general ranking upside down. For some, this leg was a surprise, for others a visit to the holy Hagia Sophia. Who knows, may be the spiritual atmosphere of Hagia Sophia could be a remedy for their disappointment.

The sailor to end the list of arrivals in Istanbul was Francisco Lobato. The racers suddenly found themselves at the heart of a metropol of 16-million inhabitants. The heart of Istanbul was beating in the fishermen's harbours, in the city's crowded streets and of course in the Bosphorus that is a home for a myriad of boats daily.
